Location
Kali is located in the southern part of the island of Ugljan and is part of the Ugljan-Pašman island group, that is, the Zadar archipelago.
Kali borders with the town of Preko in the north and Kukljica in the south.
With a land surface area of 9.4km2 and the adjacent maritime zone, the Municipality of Kali encompasses the northeast and south sides of the island.
This location provides highly attractive views of both the City of Zadar and parts of the Zadar-Šibenik archipelago, including Dugi Otok and the Kornati Islands.
The town of Kali is located on the northeast coast, about 5km from Zadar.
A prominent feature of the municipality is its deeply embedded and narrow bays of Mala Lamjana and Vela Lamjana on the south coast.
Kali is characterized by a Mediterranean climate with predominantly warm and dry summers and mild and rainy winters.
The area is sunny, with an average of about 2,450 hours of sunshine per year.
Average air temperatures range from about 7 to 24.5°C. The fresh, northwest wind “maestral”, which blows in the summer, relieves the summer heat and sweltering temperatures.
According to the 2011 Croatian census, Kali has a population of 1,638 and is the largest town across the Zadar archipelago.
Kali is a typical Dalmatian town with narrow streets and stone houses, situated on a hill. The first record of the town dates back to 1299 and one of its landmarks is a single-nave Baroque parish church of St. Lawrence, constructed upon the foundations of earlier buildings, as evidenced by the traces of the existence of an antique period structure.
The locals of Kali have traditionally engaged in the fishing of oily fish and specifically, the Kali fishermen specialize in tuna fishing, with many of them having sailed in the Pacific, Atlantic, Micronesia regions. Nowadays, the town of Kali prides itself on its fishing fleet of around 30 modern boats, a modern fishing port and cage fish farming.
The locals’ identity is profoundly rooted in fishing and a pervasive fishing tradition is a recognizable fundamental characteristic of the town of Kali.
Fisherman’s house Provir is located only 50m from the seashore and the largest beach in Kali.
Its terrace offers a beautiful view of the Zadar channel and the sunrise in the early morning hours.

How to reach us?
Kali is well connected to the mainland via a ferry port in the nearby town of Preko.
The Zadar-Preko-Zadar ferry connections (including the new Zadar port of Gaženica and the old city port) are regular, providing 10-18 lines per day.
The number of ferry lines increases during the summer months.
The two-way state road D110 connects Kali with other settlements on the island of Ugljan and over the Ždrelac bridge, with settlements on the island of Pašman.
